Conference of American Armies partner nation members visit Army South

By Javier A. Castro U.S. Army South Public Affairs

Information technology experts from partner nation members of the Conference of American Armies visited the U.S. Army South headquarters at Joint Base San Antonio-Fort Sam Houston, Texas, March 20-24, 2023.

Three Brazilian Army officers and two Mexican Army officers engaged with personnel from the U.S. Army liaison officer to the CAA, as well as the U.S. Army South G6 directorate and U.S. Army North Security and Cooperation Division.

The participants worked to update the CAA IT systems and began the formal handover of the CAA’s integrated communications and IT system to the Mexican Army, which will host the 37th CAA cycle in 2024-2025.

The CAA is an international military organization made up of Armies from the American continents. The organization conducts a two-year cycle of specialized conferences/exercises hosted by different member armies which culminates in a preparatory conference that reviews the accomplishments of the previous two-year cycle and approves the agenda for the forthcoming CAA Commanders’ Conference.

Currently, the Brazilian Army hosts the 35th CAA cycle while the Mexican Army will host the 36th cycle.

Since 1961, the CAA has provided a venue for the U.S. Army Chief of Staff to engage in multilateral and bilateral dialogue with his counterparts from Latin and South American and Caribbean partners and allied nations. Army South is the U.S. Army's lead agent and CAA liaison responsible for all coordination with partner nation armies.
