As the sun broke over the waters of Biscayne Bay in the early morning, the U.S. Navy hospital ship USNS Comfort pulled into the Port of Miami on October 23 for its last stateside port of call before beginning its deployment to Latin America and the Caribbean as part of the Continuing Promise mission.

Brazilian President to Visit U.S. Southern Command

Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro will take part in a historic visit to U.S. Southern Command March 7. Bolsonaro will meet with U.S. Navy Adm. Craig Faller, as well as other command leaders to discuss the growing defense-cooperation partnership between Brazil and the United States. During the visit, the U.S. and Brazil will sign a bilateral Agreement on Research Development, Test, and Evaluation Projects.

Pence Tours USNS Comfort Before Its Latin America Deployment

Vice President Mike Pence and his wife, Karen Pence, toured the USNS Comfort at the Port of Miami as the ship prepares to embark on a five-month deployment to Latin America and the Caribbean to address the humanitarian crisis in Venezuela and to strengthen partnerships in the region.
