U.S. Army Aviation Team Completes Qualifications to Support USNS Comfort 2019

Punta Arena, Costa Rica — U.S. Army Helicopter pilots and crew members of Joint Task Force-Bravo completed qualifications July 18-26 to support an upcoming mission, off the coast of Punta Arenas, Costa Rica.

SOTO CANO AIR BASE, Honduras — Not many jobs hold as much appeal as that of a pilot. The freedom, the blue skies and the adventure draws people from all walks of life to find a way to get their flying license. Often times, those wide-eyed dreamers find a recruiter’s office to be a great avenue for their aspirations.

U.S. Army helps protect Pan-American Highway in OP Darien Lift

SOTO CANO AIR BASE, HONDURAS — The 1-228th Avn Regt Chinook crews provided air transportation assistance from Jan. 4-12 for the first phase of the operation, named Darien Lift.

The Marines of SPMAGTF-SC worked closely with Gunston Hall sailors to qualify six pilots and five enlisted aircrew members responsible for the helicopters’ safe operation. Having qualified Marines provides SPMAGTF-SC with helicopter movement capabilities of personnel and cargo between the shore and ship. The Marines and sailors of SPMAGTF-SC are conducting security cooperation training and engineering projects alongside partner nation military forces in Central and South America. The unit is also on standby to provide humanitarian assistance and disaster relief in the event of a hurricane or other emergency in the region.
