Military Housing. The rental housing market in South Florida has a number of unique challenges for service members and their families, so it is imperative that service members contact the housing office well in advance of reporting to Miami.

The installation does not have any on-base temporary, unaccompanied or family housing. 

-- If you are single/unaccompanied and E5 or below, you can be accommodated in Army-leased off-base unaccompanied housing.

Personally Procured Moves (PPM) / Do It Yourself Moves (DITY):

Visit  move.mil,   There you should view the PPM checklist, register at the Defense Personal Property System, fill out and submit DD 2278 to complete your move.

• DD1797 - Counseling Checklist: This form will be automatically generated by the Defense Personal Property system upon completion of self counseling.
• DD1299 - Application for Shipment and Storage: This form will be automatically generated by the Defense Personal Property system upon completion of self counseling when you indicate storage is requested.
• DD2278 - Application for PPM (DITY) and Counseling Checklist: This form will be automatically generated by the Defense Personal Property system upon completion of self counseling for a PPM.
• SF1038 - Advance of Funds Application (PPM): This form needs to be completed and submitted to your local finance office if you will be requesting an advance of funds to help cover some of the expenses associated with your move.
• DD1351-2 - Travel Voucher: This form needs to be completed and submitted to your local finance office at the completion of your move so you can claim all your reimbursable expenses that you are entitled to during your move. Some finance offices have online systems for this form in place, however it’s listed here if needed.

• PPM Submission Checklist: The Personally Procured Move checklist will help you gather all the required documents prior to submitting your PPM voucher to the personal property office.
• ATF Form 6 (Active Duty Service Members Only): This form is used by Active Duty Military members to apply to permanently import firearms, ammunition and implements of war into the United States.
• ATF Form 6 (Civilians & Non-Active Duty Service Members): This form is used by civilians and non-active duty service members apply to permanently import firearms, ammunition and implements of war into the United States.

Use the Defense Personal Property System (DPS) to schedule your move with a transportation company.

-- Sign In to DPS to schedule your move online (Find out if you’re eligible to use DPS to schedule your upcoming move).

-- If you're doing a joint move (a.k.a., a dual military move with your active duty spouse), please visit your local personal property office to get help scheduling your move.

-- Follow online tutorials for help logging in or using DPS.

-- Visit PCSmyPOV to schedule an appointment at your assigned Vehicle Processing Center.

Mail Forwarding

Newly assigned personnel may use official mail channels for the receipt of personal, unofficial, or non-mission related mail for no more than 120 days.

Payment of postage and related fees is the responsibility of the sender.
