Joint Task Force - Leeward Islands provides water on St. Martin
SAINT MARTIN – U.S. Marines with Joint Task Force - Leeward Islands, remove a pallet jack from underneath a container holding a Lightweight Water Purification System at Princess Juliana International Airport, Saint Martin, Sept. 13, 2017. The Marines arrived to assess possible locations to set up their LWPS in order to produce potable water for communities on the island most affected by the storm. At the request of partner nations, JTF-LWI is currently deploying aircraft and service members to areas in the eastern Caribbean Sea affected by Hurricane Irma. The Joint Task Force is a U.S. military unit composed of Marines, Soldiers, Sailors, and Airmen, and represents U.S. Southern Command’s primary response to Hurricane Irma.
