West Virginia Army National Guard Brig. Gen. Robert Kincaid, Assistant Adjutant General – Army, and West Virginia Army National Guard State Command Sergeant Major Aaron T. Kincaid pose with the 153rd Public Affairs Detachment after the opening ceremony for Southern Vanguard 2026. The 153rd starts coverage of the training exercise in support of U.S. Army Western Hemisphere Command. SV26 brings together approximately 400 warfighters to execute a field training exercise and command post exercise in a demanding austere jungle environment. The training includes combined operations designed to simulate real-world contingencies in the complex terrain of the Amazon Jungle hills of Sauce, Peru.
