Joint Engineering Effort Assesses Bridge of the Americas in Panama

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) is working alongside Panamanian agencies to assess the Bridge of the Americas following a tanker explosion, reinforcing a shared commitment to public safety and infrastructure resilience.

The 45,000-square-foot Conference Center of the Americas sits next to the U.S. Southern Command headquarters building in Doral, Florida. Work is now complete on a $2.5 million modernization project for a suite of facility communication distribution systems throughout the facility, a job managed by the Huntsville, Alabama-based U.S. Army Engineering and Support Center. Spearheading the effort was the team from Huntsville Center’s Communications Infrastructure and Systems Support, or CIS2, a program under the Facility Technology Integration branch.
