US Government Donates Aircraft to Dominican Republic to Combat Narcotics Trafficking

The United States Government, through the Department of Defense, donated an aircraft valued at more than US$8 million to the Ministry of Defense of the Dominican Republic, in support of the shared fight against illicit trafficking of narcotics by transnational criminal organizations and in support of the country's efforts to provide humanitarian assistance in cases of disasters.

SOUTHCOM Commander Visits Dominican Republic

The commander of U.S. Southern Command, Army Gen. Laura Richardson, visited Dominican Republic June 21-22, meeting with Dominican Republic President Luis Abinader and military leaders to discuss security cooperation.

Puerto Rico Guard Serves as Southcom Ace Strategic Air Bridge

The 156th Wing operated as an expeditionary air base during Operation Forward Tiger 2023 to support U.S. Southern Command’s large-scale multinational exercise in February. The Dominican Republic air force, Jamaica defense force, Canadian armed force and U.S. Air Force participated in the exercise.

SANTO DOMINGO, Dominican Republic — SANTO DOMINGO, Dominican Republic -- Hospital ship USNS Comfort (T-AH 20) anchored off the coast of Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic in support of U.S. Naval Forces Southern Command/U.S. 4th Fleet's Continuing Promise 2022 (CP22) mission, Nov. 27.

The Freedom-variant littoral combat ship USS Milwaukee (LCS 5) (rear), her 11-meter rigid inflatable boat (center), and Dominican navy vessels, Altair (GC-112) (right) and Becrux (LI-170) (left), conduct a bilateral maritime interdiction exercise off the coast of Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic November 10, 2022.
