Fourth Fleet Navy Reserve Sailors Support PANAMAX 2022

For more than 100 years, the Panama Canal has linked our world by bridging the divide between the Pacific and Atlantic oceans. Since its completion in 1914, the canal has been one of the most vital shipping routes on the planet with nearly 14,000 vessels making the transit every year. If the canal were to cease operations, the effects could dramatically impact the global economy. Protecting the canal isn’t solely the responsibility of the United States, but the responsibility of all nations that value free and open trade. This is the purpose of PANAMAX.

Former Argentine Liaison Officer to SOUTHCOM Returns to Command Naval Component during PANAMAX

With PANAMAX ‘22 wrapping up last week, military personnel from participating nations began to make their way back to their respective homes after two weeks of working throughout various locations in the United States. For Argentine Rear Admiral Marcelo Fernandez, who served as the Naval component lead for the exercise, the two weeks spent in Mayport, Florida brought back fond memories.
