LAMAT 25 delivers critical vascular surgery, strengthens readiness in Saint Lucia

VIEUX FORT, Saint Lucia — The arrival of the Lesser Antilles Medical Assistance Team mission 2025 has brought a wave of relief to the island nation of St. Lucia. The mission, which began Feb. 24, represents a collaboration between U.S. Air Force medical professionals and their St. Lucian counterparts.

The Lesser Antilles Medical Assistance Team (LAMAT) 2025, led by AFSOUTH Surgeon General, will embed Air Force Reserve Command medical personnel within host nation hospitals and clinics across the Lesser Antilles region and Guyana. These Global Health Engagements enhance military readiness, strengthen partner nation healthcare systems, and foster resilience through expertise sharing and collaboration with local providers.

Air Force medical team benchmarks first LAMAT mission to St. Vincent

KINGSTOWN, St. Vincent and the Grenadines — Under the direction of U.S. Southern Command, 12th Air Force (Air Forces Southern) successfully pioneered its first Lesser Antilles Medical Assistance Team mission to St. Vincent and the Grenadines, March 4–12.

LAMAT medical assistance mission ends in St. Lucia successfully

CASTRIES, St. Lucia — After two weeks of high-volume patient care, alongside local medical personnel, the Lesser Antilles Medical Assistance Team mission concluded in St. Lucia, March 8, 2024.

LAMAT24: Second year U.S. partnership with St. Lucia

CASTRIES, St. Lucia — The U.S. Air Force Lesser Antilles Medical Assistance Team deployed ready-medics, for the second year, to work alongside St. Lucia’s health teams to achieve mutual benefits and build trust in the region from Feb. 26 to March 10, 2024.

Under the direction of U.S. Southern Command’s Enduring Promise initiative, 42 U.S. Air Force active duty and reserve personnel were deployed to work alongside Surinamese military and civilian medical counterparts.

LAMAT begins in Suriname for second year of medical assistance

PARAMARIBO, Suriname — The Lesser Antilles Medical Assistance Team mission is underway for a second year of health engagements across four nations, beginning in Suriname, 19 Feb. Further medical assistance teams under the LAMAT 2024 mission will travel to St. Lucia, St. Vincent, St. Kitts and Nevis through March 29.

As students were served by dental technicians from the Lesser Antilles Medical Assistance Team, other members of LAMAT were able to engage with them through various games and activities.

LAMAT Dental Team First to Treat Patients at New Redi Doti Dental Clinic

REDI DOTI, Suriname — The dental team of the Lesser Antilles Medical Assistance Team (LAMAT) was the first to see patients in a newly opened dental clinic in Redi Doti, Suriname on Monday. The Youth Dental Care Foundation’s (JTV) Redi Doti clinic will serve patients in rural communities, making dental services and preventative care more easily accessible.

Following in the wake of the United States Naval Ship Comfort's recent deployment for operation Continuing Promise, U.S. Southern Command (USSOUTHCOM) has kicked off operation Lesser Antilles Medical Assistance Team (LAMAT) this week beginning with the arrival of U.S. Military personnel at USSOUTHCOM headquarters in Miami Florida, January 25, 2023
