Tradewinds 23 Exercise Highlights Multinational Partnerships

Tradewinds 23, a two-week multinational exercise supporting the security of the Caribbean and Central America, wrapped up with a closing ceremony July 27. The training exercise involved 21 nations and more than 1,500 people from all branches of the U.S. military, civilians, and law enforcement across the partner nations.

The Department of Defense National Guard Bureau State Partnership Program has fostered enduring relationships with partner countries since 1993. The Florida National Guard’s partnership with Guyana, which began in 2003, embodies this global effort to improve interoperability, enhance access and influence, and increase readiness.

Multinational exercise Tradewinds 2023 begins in Guyana

The Caribbean-focused exercise, Tradewinds 2023 (TW23), officially commenced with an opening ceremony that took place July 15 at Camp Ayanganna. Tradewinds is a U.S. Southern Command-sponsored annual exercise designed to strengthen partnerships and interoperability, promote human rights, as well as increase all participants' training capacity and capability to mitigate, plan for and respond to regional crises and security threats.
