U.S. Wants to Remain 'Partner of Choice' in Latin America

WASHINGTON — The United States wants to remain the "partner of choice" in Latin America by providing better options than other entities in the region, Navy Adm. Kurt W. Tidd, the commander of U.S. Southern Command, said in an interview with DoD News.

Southcom Chief: Command Focuses on Countering Threat Networks

WASHINGTON — Navy Adm. Kurt W. Tidd, the commander of U.S. Southern Command, discussed issues from countering international threat networks to providing better barracks for service members assigned at Naval Station Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, during a Pentagon news conference.

MAYAPO, Colombia (March 25, 2017) - Hospital Corpsman 2nd Class Joshua Crisano, a native of Williamsburg, Va., assigned to Naval Hospital Jacksonville, Fla., teaches physical therapy stretches to the mother of a host nation child at the Continuing Promise 2017 (CP-17) medical site in Mayapo, Colombia. Continuing Promise 2017 Begins Operations in Colombia

U.S. military and embassy personnel along with Colombian service members, police, government officials, and local residents attended the opening ceremony for Continuing Promise 2017’s (CP-17) visit to Mayapo, Colombia, at the mission’s medical site March 23.

TRUJILLO, Honduras (Feb. 24, 2017) – Army Sgt. Katia Rivera, a native of Puerto Rico, assigned to Public Health Activity-Fort Belvoir, Va., and Culinary Specialist 2nd Class Nathan Rock, attached to Naval Station Everett, Wash., inspect a dog for fleas during a veterinary check-up in support of Continuing Promise 2017's (CP-17) visit to Trujillo, Honduras. Continuing Promise to Test Web-Based System Designed to Improve Planning for Medical Missions
