U.S. Army South Prepares for Exercise with Brazil

In preparation for this year's PANAMAX multinational exercise and upcoming combined training at JRTC and in São Paulo, Brazil, U.S. Army South hosted Brazilian army Maj. Gen. Marcos De Sá Affonso Da Costa, Brazilian Director for training, Maj. Gen. Josias Pedrotti Da Rosa, Brazilian army attache to the United States, and their delegation at Army South headquarters, Joint Base San Antonio- Fort Sam Houston, Feb. 4.

Joining forces maintain operability, provide medical care

ATLANTIDA, Honduras — Soldiers with the U.S. Army Reserve assigned to Joint Task Force-Bravo conducted a Medical Readiness Training Exercise with Honduran military counterparts in the Atlántida department, Honduras, to provide basic medical services at local schools in the Frutera, Saladito and Boca del Toro villages, August 6 – 8.

Dominican Republic Civil Defense, Air Force search and rescue squadron, Army and other governmental and non-governmental organizations participated in water-rescue simulations as part of Fuerzas Aliadas Humanitarias 2019.

Army South deploys specialized surgical team to Honduras

Tegucigalpa, Honduras — To enhance response capabilities, the Regional Health Command Central deployed a trauma surgical team to Honduras, part of the Army South area of operations, to conduct pre-hospital care, trauma care, and work side-by-side with host nation surgeons from 11-25 August at the University School Hospital.

'Beyond the Horizon' exercise strengthening partnership with El Salvador

LA PAZ DEPARTMENT, El Salvador — Some 1,800 Soldiers from Combined Joint Task Force Hope are providing humanitarian assistance as part of their training during the Beyond the Horizon exercise in La Paz, El Salvador. The U.S. Army South-led mission began May 12 and runs through Aug. 4, and includes Soldiers from all components, Air Force and Marine service members, Salvadoran soldiers and personnel from non-governmental organizations.

JTF-Bravo soldier receives medal for heroism in Honduras

SOTO CANO AIRBASE, Honduras — Sergeant First Class Levon Fernandez, a flight paramedic with Joint Task Force-Bravo’s 1st Battalion 228th Aviation Regiment, Charlie Company, was awarded the Soldier’s Medal for his heroic actions during a presentation ceremony at Soto Cano Air Base, Honduras, May 07, 2018.

Army South hosts Soldiers from El Salvador

JOINT BASE SAN ANTONIO-FORT SAM HOUSTON, Texas — U.S. Army South recently hosted a delegation from the Armed Forces of El Salvador for a series of staff talk steering committee meetings. The delegation from El Salvador was led by Col. Angel Lima.

U.S. and Brazilian delegates participate in a work group July 24. Topics were broken out for further discussion such as personnel issues, logistics, engineering, science and technology, medical, international affairs, doctrine, training and operations, command and control, cyber, electronic warfare and intelligence, among others.

Brazil, U.S. armies reach agreement

Army South and Brazilian delegates reached consensus on 43 agreed to actions, called ATAs for short, during army-to-army staff talks in Brasilia, Brazil July 26.

U.S. Army South, in partnership with the Belize Defence Force (BDF), and the Ministries of Defence, Health, and Education are proud to announce “Beyond the Horizon 2017” (BTH), a collaborative training exercise involving numerous U.S., Belizean, and international participants.BTH will provide free medical and dental services, as well as build medical and educational facilities from March 25, 2017 and is scheduled to end the second week of June, 2017.

Chilean, U.S. Soldiers learn food protection in an expeditionary environment

A team of veterinarians from U.S. Army South and the U.S. Army Medical Center and School, participated in a subject matter expert exchange with approximately 40 Chilean military and civilian veterinarians March 6-9 in Santiago. The group met to discuss the execution of food safety and food defense programs in underdeveloped regions which lack adequate public health services.
