Several Soldiers from the Oklahoma National Guard receive the Purple Heart and Bronze Star. Purple Heart Recipients: SGT. Justin W. Cox - wounded in action. Oklahoma National Guard. 700th Brigade Support Battalion, 45th Infantry Brigade Combat Team and PVT. 1st Class John R. Hill - wounded in action, Company D., 1st Battalion, 179th Infantry Regiment, 45 Infantry Brigade Combat Team, Oklahoma National Guard. Bronze Star Recipients: 1st LT. Brandon L. Curtis - for exceptionally meritorious service, Operation Enduring Freedom, Afghanistan, Task Force Thunderbird, Combined Joint Task Force -1, U.S. Central Command and SGT. Joseph D.
