44 years after making the ultimate sacrifice to protect fellow Marines from North Vietnamese troops, U.S. Marine Corps Private 1st Class Bruce Wayne Carter -- South Florida's only Vietnam War Medal of Honor recipient -- was recognized during a formal ceremony Dec. 5 at the VA medical center in Miami which bears his name.
