U.S. 4th Fleet Announces Continuing Promise 2023 Deployment

CARTAGENA, Colombia — The U.S. Navy expeditionary fast transport USNS Burlington (T-EPF 10) will deploy to the U.S. Southern Command area of operations over the next two months as part of U.S. Naval Forces Southern Command/U.S. 4th Fleet's Continuing Promise 2023 mission.

Integrating Unmanned Systems into Operations at Sea

JB Charleston SC — Members of NIWC Atlantic’s Unmanned Naval Innovation Team (UNIT) participated in Exercise “UNITAS” off the coast of Colombia last week in support of the U.S. 4th Fleet’s future hybrid fleet.

The Tradewinds 23 closing ceremony was held in Georgetown, Guyana, July 27, 2023. The multinational, two-week exercise included representatives from 21 nations and Army and Air National Guard units from Alabama, Florida, Missouri, Oklahoma and the Virgin Islands.

Tradewinds 23 Exercise Highlights Multinational Partnerships

Tradewinds 23, a two-week multinational exercise supporting the security of the Caribbean and Central America, wrapped up with a closing ceremony July 27. The training exercise involved 21 nations and more than 1,500 people from all branches of the U.S. military, civilians, and law enforcement across the partner nations.

Gen. Richardson visits Guyana, Honduras

The commander of U.S. Southern Command, U.S. Army Gen. Laura Richardson, visited Guyana and Honduras July 25 – 28 and met with military and senior government leaders.

Peru Bolsters International Space Collaboration with Key U.S. Partners During Exercise

OPERATION HARPY SUR, a space exercise nested under Exercise RESOLUTE SENTINEL 2023, has opened a new chapter in international space collaboration at the Centro Nacional de Operaciones de Imágenes Satelitales, or CNOIS, in southern Peru. The space exercise aims to bolster the region's emerging space programs.

Guyana joins initiative that supports development of human rights programs in the Caribbean, Latin America

During a bilateral meeting today between Brigadier Omar Khan, Guyana Defence Force (GDF) Chief of Staff, and U.S. Army General Laura Richardson, commander of U.S. Southern Command (SOUTHCOM), the two leaders signed the Human Rights Framework committing their organizations to “human rights engagement, cooperation and integration.”

The Florida National Guard’s partnership with Guyana, which began in 2003, embodies this global effort to improve interoperability, enhance access and influence, and increase readiness.
