Beyond the Horizon 2017 planners meet with civic partners regarding upcoming medical event in San Ignacio

Command team members and medical planners from Beyond the Horizon 2017 met with Cayo district leaders April 27 to discuss operations for the upcoming medical event scheduled for May 8 through May 16 in San Ignacio. BTH 2017 is a partnership exercise between U.S. Southern Command and the Government of Belize designed to improve health and educational facilities by providing five construction projects and three health care events throughout the country.

Continuing Promise 2017 Mission Concludes Final Mission Stop in Popoya Playa

POPOYA PLAYA, Colombia (NNS) -- The Continuing Promise 2017 (CP-17) mission made its last mission stop at the Popoya Playa School, from March 25-29, where personnel deployed in support of CP-17 conducted an array of different activities such as infrastructure enhancement, nutrition classes and preventative health tips.

MAYAPO, Colombia (March 25, 2017) - Hospital Corpsman 2nd Class Joshua Crisano, a native of Williamsburg, Va., assigned to Naval Hospital Jacksonville, Fla., teaches physical therapy stretches to the mother of a host nation child at the Continuing Promise 2017 (CP-17) medical site in Mayapo, Colombia. CP-17 is a U.S. Southern Command-sponsored and U.S. Naval Forces Southern Command/U.S. 4th Fleet-conducted deployment to conduct civil-military operations including humanitarian assistance, training engagements, and medical, dental, and veterinary support in an effort to show U.S. support and commitment to Central and South America. Continuing Promise 2017 Begins Operations in Colombia

U.S. military and embassy personnel along with Colombian service members, police, government officials, and local residents attended the opening ceremony for Continuing Promise 2017’s (CP-17) visit to Mayapo, Colombia, at the mission’s medical site March 23.

U.S. Army South, in partnership with the Belize Defence Force (BDF), and the Ministries of Defence, Health, and Education are proud to announce “Beyond the Horizon 2017” (BTH), a collaborative training exercise involving numerous U.S., Belizean, and international participants.BTH will provide free medical and dental services, as well as build medical and educational facilities from March 25, 2017 and is scheduled to end the second week of June, 2017.

Preventive Medicine Unit Hosts Outbreak Investigation Workshop during CP-17

PUERTO BARRIOS, Guatemala—Sailors from Navy Environmental and Preventive Medicine Unit (NEPMU) 2 hosted an outbreak investigation workshop, Feb. 8, as part of Continuing Promise 2017’s (CP-17) valuable training for partner nation community health workers who may be called to participate in investigations of infectious disease outbreaks.

USNS Spearhead Set to Deploy, Continuing Promise 2017 Begins

Continuing Promise 2017 (CP-17) will begin early next week with the deployment of the Military Sealift Command-operated expeditionary fast transport vessel, USNS Spearhead (T-EPF 1), to the U.S. Southern Command area of responsibility.

Beyond the Horizon humanitarian exercise in Guatemala concludes

Brig. Gen. James P. Wong traveled to Guatemala City, Guatemala June 7-9, to formally close out the Beyond the Horizon Guatemala 2016 exercise. The exercise officially opened April 7, with operations to build schools and clinics in multiple rural locations. Arriving early, Wong personally visited several of the sites to assess the progress first-hand.
