Coast Guard offloads more than $160 million in illegal narcotics

The crew of the USCGC Spencer (WMEC 905) offloaded approximately 4810 kilos of cocaine worth over $160.3 million in Port Everglades, Wednesday. Along with the illicit narcotics, eight suspected smugglers were apprehended and face prosecution in federal court by the Department of Justice.

Puerto Rico Guard Serves as Southcom Ace Strategic Air Bridge

The 156th Wing operated as an expeditionary air base during Operation Forward Tiger 2023 to support U.S. Southern Command’s large-scale multinational exercise in February. The Dominican Republic air force, Jamaica defense force, Canadian armed force and U.S. Air Force participated in the exercise.

U.S. Army advisors strengthen partnership with Colombia’s fire support command

U.S. Army advisors assigned to 4th Battalion, 1st Security Force Assistance Brigade, traveled to La Guajira region of Colombia alongside Comando de Apoyo de Fuegos, Colombia’s fire support command, in mid-December to assess their procedures and technical prowess in planning and executing field artillery missions using 155m Howitzer cannons.

After more than five months of planning, U.S. Army South hosted its inaugural Women, Peace, and Security, or WPS, Symposium in downtown San Antonio Feb. 22-23. Representatives from 16 Central and South American and Caribbean partner nations participated in panel discussions, question and answer sessions, senior leader discussions, and a presentation on the overall WPS framework.

LAMAT Dental Team First to Treat Patients at New Redi Doti Dental Clinic

The dental team of the Lesser Antilles Medical Assistance Team (LAMAT) was the first to see patients in a newly opened dental clinic in Redi Doti, Suriname on Monday. The Youth Dental Care Foundation’s (JTV) Redi Doti clinic will serve patients in rural communities, making dental services and preventative care more easily accessible.
