Step 1: Not Later Than 60 Days Prior to Arrival

- Contact the Housing Office
  Military Housing. The installation does not have any on-base temporary, unaccompanied or family housing. The rental housing market in South Florida has a number of unique challenges for service members and their families. It is recommended that Reservists contact the housing office well in advance of reporting to Miami to review their specific entitlements.

- Start learning spanish (if not already fluent)
  The Department of the Army Libraries system provides access to free language training resources such as Mango Languages (over 70 world languages to choose from). All you need is a library account.

Step 1A: Information to Review prior to arrival (by service)
- army -- Review Individual Mobilization Augmentee (IMA) Handbook (large file)
- Army National Guard (AGR) -- Review Accession Checklist
- Marines -- Review and comply with Reserve Drills and orders
  At the beginning of each fiscal year Reserve Marines belonging to MARFORSOUTH are required to print and sign their Individual Mobilization Augmentee (IMA) Statement of Understanding. It must be returned to the MARFORSOUTH Reserve Liaison Officer. If there are any questions, contact (305)437-2534.
  
  Drills:
  
  Reserve Marines are required to schedule their drills in Drill Manager ahead of travel. Reserve Marines will fill out the drill log book each day of drill at the start and end of each drill day for accountability purposes.
  
  Once travel is completed, Individual Mobilization Augmentee (IMA) Marines submit a Defense Travel System (DTS) local voucher for reimbursement for lodging. Payment for attending drills are mustered and exported every Friday.
  
  Annual Training:
  
  Reservists coming on Annual training have their Marine Resource Order Writing Service (MROWS) orders created by the Reserve Liaison Chief, based on the dates provided on their submitted annual training plan. Short tours Active-Duty Operational Support (ADOS) are created and submitted based on funding availability and the needs of MARFORSOUTH.
Step 2: Not Later Than 45 Days Prior to Arrival
- Schedule Your Move
  Use the Defense Personal Property System (DPS) to schedule your move with a transportation company.
  
  -- Sign In to DPS to schedule your move online (Find out if you’re eligible to use DPS to schedule your upcoming move).
  
  -- If you are doing a Personally Procured Moves (PPM) / Do It Yourself Moves (DITY): Visit move.mil, There you should view the PPM checklist, then register at the Defense Personal Property System, fill out and submit DD 2278 to complete your move.
  
  -- If you're doing a joint move (a.k.a., a dual military move with your active duty spouse), please visit your local personal property office to get help scheduling your move.
  
  -- Follow online tutorials for help logging in or using DPS.
  
  -- Visit PCSmyPOV to schedule an appointment at your assigned Vehicle Processing Center.

  Motorcycle Safety Training Program

  -- An SF 182 is required to be filled out and signed by your supervisor or training officer prior to finalizing a date for training.
  
  -- Classes are offered 7 days a week. Courses offered include: Basic Riders Course 1 & 2, Advanced Riders Course, Military Sports Riders Course, and Tri-Wheel Basic Rider Course.
  
  -- Three training centers are located in Miami-Dade county: Peterson's Harley-Davidson of Miami, Miami-Dade College North, and Miami-Dade College Kendall.
  
  -- Four training centers are located in Broward county: Searstown, Riva motorsports Supercenter, Rick Case Honda Powerhouse and Broward motorsports

  Input Defense Travel System (DTS) information for review and approval (If required)
- Register for Joint Knowledge Online and complete SOUTHCOM Required Training
- Complete Reserve Orientation-Onboarding Course
  The Reserve Orientation-Onboarding course is on JKO.
  
  Complete the Reserve Orientation-Onboarding up to 30 days before arrival, but no later than before completion of your first assigned drill period.  The course takes about 1 hour to complete.

The Army Health Clinic SOUTHCOM provides ambulatory primary healthcare services to enrolled active duty service members, adult active duty family members, and TRICARE-eligible retirees working within U.S. Army Garrison-Miami.
