Conference of American Armies Focuses on NCO Development, COVID-19

The 34th cycle of the Conference of American Armies, or CAA, focusing on non-commissioned officer education and COVID-19 lessons learned, was held Feb. 9-11 at U.S. Army South headquarters at Joint Base San Antonio-Fort Sam Houston as a hybrid in-person and virtual event due to pandemic restrictions.

DLA supports SOUTHCOM pandemic response efforts

The Defense Logistics Agency is assisting U.S. Southern Command’s COVID-19 relief efforts in a number of countries in their area of responsibility through DoD’s Humanitarian Assistance Program, in addition to their ongoing support of national efforts. Since receiving the initial request on May 29, 2020, DLA Troop Support’s Construction and Equipment supply chain has provided 24 field hospitals to SOUTHCOM, who donated them to 11 countries within their AOR.

Joint Task Force-Bravo donated personal protective equipment and medications, through U.S. Southern Command’s Humanitarian Assistance Program to support the municipalities of Villa de San Antonio, La Paz, Ajuterique and Lejamani.

Bringing Them Home

Approximately 90 U.S. citizens who were previously unable to return home from South America, were transported to Duke Field, Eglin Air Force Base, Florida.
