USNS Burlington Arrives in Cartagena, Colombia for Continuing Promise 2024 Mission Stop

CARTAGENA, Colombia — CARTAGENA, Colombia -- Spearhead-class expeditionary fast transport ship USNS Burlington (T-EPF 10) arrived in Cartagena, Colombia on Aug. 5, 2024 as part of U.S. Naval Forces Southern Command/U.S. 4th Fleet's Continuing Promise 2024 (CP24).

South Carolina Guard Bridging Unit Trains With Colombian Partners

Since 2012, the Colombian military and the South Carolina National Guard have been partnered in the Department of Defense National Guard State Partnership Program, which pairs Guard elements with partner nations worldwide for mutual training and subject matter expert exchanges.

The USNS Burlington (T-EPF 10) departs Naval Station Mayport for Continuing Promise 2024 on July 3, 2024. Continuing Promise 2024 marks the 14th mission to the region since 2007 and the second aboard USNS Burlington. The mission will foster goodwill, strengthen existing partnerships with partner nations, and encourage the establishment of new partnerships among countries, non-government organizations, and international organizations.

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — U.S. Space Command leaders met with representatives from Uruguay, Colombia, Brazil, and Peru to strengthen and expand space cooperation among partner nations in the Western Hemisphere during Space Symposium 39, April 8-11, 2024.

The South Carolina National Guard helped its State Partnership Program partner, Colombia, respond to dozens of fires in the Bogota area in January 2024 by providing helicopter buckets used to drop water or retardant.

South Carolina Guard Comes to Aid of Partner Colombia

The South Carolina National Guard is assisting Colombia, its State Partnership Program partner, in dealing with dozens of wildfires. To help emergency responders battle as many as 30 active fires in and around Bogota in late January, the South Carolina National Guard loaned Colombia multiple helicopter buckets.

U.S. and Colombia Soar Together: Ángel de los Andes and Relámpago VII Bolster Interoperability

Davis-Monthan Air Force Base, Ariz. — The U.S. military recently teamed up with the Colombian Aerospace Force to showcase bilateral cooperation and a commitment to enhancing military readiness in the Ángel de los Andes and Relámpago VIII exercises, hosted in Colombia in August and September 2023. Teams from the U.S. Air Force, Army, Space Force, Navy, Coast Guard, and Marines trained alongside their Colombian counterparts to reinforce the thriving partnership between the two nations.
