DOD Spokesman: As U.S. Provides Aid to Central, South America, Russia Sends Bombers

WASHINGTON — Medical personnel aboard the hospital ship USNS Comfort have treated more than 20,000 civilians, and performed more than 600 surgeries in several Central and South American nations, Army Col. Rob Manning, a Pentagon spokesman said.

The hospital ship USNS Comfort (T-AH 20) is anchored off the coast of Honduras as part of an 11-week medical support mission to Central and South America as part of U.S. Southern Command’s Enduring Promise initiative.
