Southcom Chief: Command Focuses on Countering Threat Networks

WASHINGTON — Navy Adm. Kurt W. Tidd, the commander of U.S. Southern Command, discussed issues from countering international threat networks to providing better barracks for service members assigned at Naval Station Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, during a Pentagon news conference.

The crew of the U.S. Coast Guard Cutter Stratton offloaded approximately six tons of cocaine in San Diego, Friday, March 31, 2017. Several U.S. Coast Guard cutters seized the cocaine in nine interdictions in the Eastern Pacific Ocean from mid-January through February. Coast Guard offloads approximately 16 tons of cocaine in Port Everglades

The Coast Guard Cutter James crew offloaded approximately 16 tons of cocaine Tuesday in Port Everglades worth an estimated $420 million wholesale seized in international waters off the Eastern Pacific Ocean.

Coast Guard Cutter Spencer returns home; seized $92 million in cocaine

During their patrol, the crew interdicted four drug-laden vessels, resulting in the seizure of approximately 1,400 kilograms (3,080 lbs.) of cocaine worth more than $92 million. They also apprehended 13 suspected smugglers with the help of their deployed helicopter crew.

USCGC Diligence returns home after interdicting $60M worth of cocaine

WILMINGTON, N.C. — The crew of U.S. Coast Guard Cutter Diligence returned to Wilmington Tuesday following a 62-day patrol in the Eastern Pacific. The Diligence crew patrolled in support of the Joint Interagency Task Force (JIATF) South in the Eastern Pacific. Along with JIATF South, the U.S. Coast Guard works alongside interagency and international partners to prevent and respond to illegal maritime migration and narcotics smuggling from South and Central America.

The Coast Guard transferred custody of four suspected smugglers and multiple bales of cocaine to U.S. federal law enforcement authorities at Coast Guard Sector San Juan, Puerto Rico Jan. 8, 2017. Coast Guard offloads $30 million worth of seized cocaine in San Juan, Puerto Rico

SAN JUAN, Puerto Rico — The Coast Guard offloaded approximately 2,000 pounds of seized cocaine worth an estimated $30 million in wholesale value and transferred custody of four suspected smugglers to U.S. federal law enforcement authorities at Coast Guard Sector San Juan Sunday.
