UNITAS LXII Kicks off in Lima

LIMA, Peru – Naval and Marine forces from Australia, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, France, Germany, Italy, Jamaica, Mexico, Morocco, Panama, Peru, Spain, United Kingdom, Uruguay, and the United States kicked off UNITAS LXII, an annual multinational exercise, Sept. 24, in Lima, Peru.

571 MSAS launches inaugural WPS seminar in El Salvador

Twenty-eight Salvadoran military members participated in the first-ever Women, Peace and Security seminar including all branches of the Salvadoran military from Aug. 23-27 at the Centro de Entrenamiento de Operaciones de Paz (CEOPAZ), El Salvador. Women, Peace and Security is a United Nations effort to highlight the effect of conflict on women and the importance of including women in security forces and in conflict resolution. This effort aims to promote women leaders within the military and security forces and to develop solutions for a seamless integration.

Army South hosts 2nd Operation Alamo Shield Mission Prep for rotating Security Force Assistance Teams

U.S. Army South hosted the second pre-deployment training seminar, Operation Alamo Shield Mission Prep, at their headquarters Aug. 31-Sept. 1 to prepare teams assigned to the 1st Security Force Assistance Brigade for future training and advising missions in Colombia, Honduras and Panama.

The San Antonio-class amphibious transport dock ship USS Arlington (LPD 24) arrived in U.S. 4th Fleet area of operations off the coast Haiti to begin humanitarian assistance and disaster relief operations, Aug. 21.
