More than 190 members of Joint Task Force-Bravo hiked approximately 3.6 miles round-trip to the village of San Jerónimo, Comayagua, Honduras, Apr. 29, 2017. Members carried more than 5025 lbs of food and supplies, 24 soccer balls and 3 piñatas to the people of San Jerónimo. Chapel hikes have been occurring since 2003, with the JTF-Bravo Chapel sponsoring an average of six every year. The hikes are designed to provide a practical way for JTF-Bravo members to engage and partner with local communities to provide support to surrounding villages in need of food and supplies. Beyond the Horizon 2017 planners meet with civic partners regarding upcoming medical event in San Ignacio

Command team members and medical planners from Beyond the Horizon 2017 met with Cayo district leaders April 27 to discuss operations for the upcoming medical event scheduled for May 8 through May 16 in San Ignacio. BTH 2017 is a partnership exercise between U.S. Southern Command and the Government of Belize designed to improve health and educational facilities by providing five construction projects and three health care events throughout the country.

USS Zephyr-US Coast Guard Team Seize $22.5 Million Worth of Cocaine

The Cyclone-class patrol coastal ship USS Zephyr (PC 8), its embarked U.S. Coast Guard Law Enforcement Detachment (LEDET) personnel and coalition forces intercepted an immense amount of contraband while on patrol conducting Operation Martillo in the U.S. 4th Fleet area of operations April 19.

MEDRETE and MPE missions support medical care in Honduras

COLÓN, Honduras — Thirty-four personnel from Joint Task Force-Bravo’s Medical Element, along with Joint Security Forces (JSF) and Joint Support Battalion (JSB), participated in a two-day Medical Readiness Training Exercise (MEDRETE) and a Military Partnership Engagement with the Honduran Armed Forces April 20-22, providing basic medical care for more the 1,500 patients.

Southcom Official: 'Friendly Network' Critical in Confronting Transregional Threats

COZUMEL, Mexico — "It takes a network to defeat a network," a U.S. Southern Command official stressed as representatives of 14 nations gathered in Mexico to address ways to confront the transnational security threats in Central America.

U.S. Troops Visit Children’s Home in Belize

LADYVILLE, Belize — Soldiers are helping others through Beyond the Horizon, a partnership exercise between the government of Belize and U.S. Southern Command, where they are providing free medical services and construction projects throughout Belize.

U.S. Army engineers build clinics, school in Belize during Beyond the Horizon 2017

U.S. service members and their Belizean counterparts are working on several different construction projects throughout the country of Belize as part of Beyond the Horizon 2017, which runs from March 25 until June 17.
