New York National Guard Medics Attend Brazilian Jungle Course

Four New York Army National Guard combat medics assigned to the 466th Medical Company, Area Support (MCAS), completed a Brazilian jungle familiarization and academics course with U.S. Army South, the 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault), 7th Special Forces Group and 1st Security Forces Assistance Brigade Soldiers Nov. 1-4.

Guardsmen Head to Brazil for Southern Vanguard 24

New York guardsmen and Brazilian troops are participating in Southern Vanguard, an exercise to designed to increase interoperability and share knowledge, in Brazil.

New York Guard Conducts Search and Rescue Training in Brazil

One hundred New York National Guard Airmen conducted combat search and rescue exercises with their Brazilian Air Force counterparts Aug. 16-27. The Airmen, most of whom are assigned to the 106th Rescue Wing, conducted missions simulating the recovery of downed aircrew and refueled search and rescue helicopters in the air. They also completed on-ground security exercises and trained Brazilian parachute rescue personnel.

New York Army National Guard Medics Train in Brazil

Fifteen New York Army National Guard medics and physician assistants traveled to Brazil to participate in South America’s largest military humanitarian response exercise Aug. 12-18. The Soldiers, from the 466th Medical Company, Area Support, joined 100 other foreign military personnel from 13 countries and 1,700 Brazilians for Operation Parana III in Parana State.

New York Army Guard Leaders Plan Exercise with Brazil

Two New York Army National Guard leaders visited State Partnership Program partner Brazil May 1-5 to lay the groundwork for Guard participation in a Brazilian disaster response exercise in August.

Brazil's Top Military Officer Visits SOUTHCOM

Brazil's Chief of the Joint Chiefs of Staff of the Armed Forces, Adm. Renato Rodrigues de Aguiar Freire, visited U.S. Southern Command (SOUTHCOM) March 14, 2023.

During the initial planning conference for exercise Southern Vanguard 24 in Macapa, Brazil, Dec 5-8, 2022, Master Sgt. Rob Mitchell and a Brazilian army infantry officer discuss training scenarios, logistical requirements and training objectives for the bilateral event scheduled in the fall of 2023. Southern Vanguard is a U.S. Southern Command-sponsored, U.S. Army South-conducted exercise at the operational and tactical levels to increase interoperability between U.S. and Western Hemisphere forces.

New York National Guard, Brazil Plan Major Joint Exercise

The New York Army National Guard has begun laying the groundwork for a joint exercise with the Brazilian military in the fall. The planning conference for the Southern Vanguard 24 exercise was held in Brazil the first week of December, according to U.S. Army Maj. Melanie Padilla, the New York National Guard state planner.

UNITAS Concludes After Successful Exercise

RIO DE JANEIRO — RIO DE JANEIRO - UNITAS LXIII (63), the world’s longest-running multinational maritime exercise concluded with a closing ceremony in Rio De Janeiro, Sept. 22, 2022.

Army Sgt. William Dunn, left, a member of the 101st Expeditionary Signal Battalion, and Air Force Tech Sgt. Jeremy Miter, assigned to the 274th Air Operations Support Squadron, will represent the New York National Guard and the U.S. military at the annual international course taught at the Brazilian military's jungle warfare training school in Manas, Brazil. The New York National Guard has sent Soldiers and Airmen to the school since 2019 as part of a State Partnership Program agreement with Brazil's armed forces.
