UNITAS LXII Opening Ceremony Takes Place in Lima

LIMA, Peru — LIMA, Peru – Naval and Marine forces from Argentina, Australia, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, France, Germany, Italy, Jamaica, Mexico, Panama, Peru, Spain, South Korea, United Kingdom, Uruguay, and the United States gathered for the opening ceremony for UNITAS LXII, the longest running multinational maritime exercise, in Lima, Peru, Sept. 27.

Coast Guard Cutter Forrest Rednour returns from drug patrol

The crew disrupted illegal narcotics smuggling, seizing more than 5,000 pounds of cocaine that was offloaded in San Diego, Sept. 22. The drugs, worth an estimated $96 million, were seized in international waters of the Eastern Pacific Ocean off the coast of Mexico.

UNITAS LXII Kicks off in Lima

LIMA, Peru — LIMA, Peru – Naval and Marine forces from Australia, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, France, Germany, Italy, Jamaica, Mexico, Morocco, Panama, Peru, Spain, United Kingdom, Uruguay, and the United States kicked off UNITAS LXII, an annual multinational exercise, Sept. 24, in Lima, Peru.

Soto Cano Air Base, Honduras — In support of the whole-of-government effort led by the U.S. Agency for International Development’s Bureau for Humanitarian Assistance, Joint Task Force-Bravo (JTF-B) joined forces with Joint Task Force-Haiti (JTF-Haiti) to deliver much-needed aid as rapidly as possible to victims of the recent 7.2 magnitude earthquake in Haiti, Aug. 15-Sept.9.

PORT-AU-PRINCE, Haiti — U.S. Army Capt. Alix Idrache, a pilot and future operations planner with the 1st Battalion, 228th Aviation Regiment, Joint Task Force-Bravo (JTF-B), based out of Soto Cano Air Base, Honduras, mobilized in support of Joint Task Force-Haiti (JTF-Haiti) to deliver much-needed aid as rapidly as possible to victims of the recent 7.2 magnitude earthquake in Haiti, Aug. 15-Sept. 9.

USCGC Northland returns home after 80-day Eastern Pacific patrol, Miami drug offload

USCGC Northland (WMEC 904) returned to Portsmouth Monday, following an 80-day patrol in the Eastern Pacific Ocean in support of the Coast Guard Eleventh District and Joint Interagency Task Force South.

USS Arlington Returns from Humanitarian Mission in Haiti

NORFOLK, Va. — NORFOLK, Va. – The San Antonio-class amphibious transport dock ship USS Arlington (LPD 24) returns to Naval Station Norfolk, Virginia after deploying to U.S. 4th Fleet area of operation to support a humanitarian assistance and disaster relief (HADR) operation in Haiti, Sept. 8.

Doctors and med techs from the South Carolina Air National Guard’s 169th Medical Group teamed up with medics from the South Carolina Army National Guard to travel to the remote town of Tamana, Colombia to participate in a real-word community medical and humanitarian support mission September 4, 2021. While there, the medical personnel provided dental, optical, dermatology, pharmacy and general medical care to more than 300 patients. South Carolina Air National Guard and South Carolina Army National Guard medical personnel participate in the regional Ángel de los Andes (Angel of the Andes) and Cooperación VII exercises in Colombia August 30 to September 10, 2021. The exercises provide training opportunities with South Carolina’s state partner Colombia in realistic combat search and rescue missions as well as humanitarian aid and disaster response scenarios such as earthquakes and tsunamis. South Carolina National Guard conducts “Band-Aids not bullets diplomacy” in Colombia

Rionegro, Colombia — South Carolina Army and Air National Guard medical personnel conducted a real-world humanitarian medical mission in the remote town of Tamana, Colombia last weekend during the regional Ángel de los Andes (Angel of the Andes) and Cooperación VII exercises. Approximately 30 members of the South Carolina National Guard are participating in the exercises from August 30 to September 10.
